- 01Our floatie gently supports your baby under the chin and at the back of the head (that big flat bone called the occipital bone). Once your little one is in the water, they feel completely weightless – one of the many magical things about water! The floatie’s role is to keep your baby upright and floating, so they can enjoy all the soothing benefits of water in the safest way possible. We take hygiene very seriously to keep our tiny guests safe and healthy. Fresh towels, swim nappies, and massage linens are used for each session, and every surface – including the floor – is regularly cleaned with baby-safe hypochlorite solutions. Floaties are thoroughly washed and disinfected after every single use. Your baby spa instructor will always be in good health for sessions. If we’re ever feeling under the weather, we’ll happily reschedule to make sure we don’t pass on any germs and keep your baby’s well-being our top priority. We also purify our water using ozone – a natural and gentle method that gets rid of germs, odors, and impurities without using harsh chemicals. That means it’s extra kind to your baby’s delicate skin. Our flotation pods are specially designed to keep your baby within arm’s reach at all times. We’ll make sure your little one is safe, happy, and comfortable – and we’ll always keep an eye out for signs of overstimulation so the experience stays calm and enjoyable.
- 02We welcome your little one to begin their float journey as early as 2–3 weeks old, as long as their umbilical cord has naturally fallen off and fully dried. To ensure safety and comfort, babies must weigh at least 2.25 kg to join our sessions. For babies who are new to hydrotherapy, we recommend booking their first session before 10 months of age.Although we have welcomed older babies in the past, we have found that from around 11 months, many little ones become more unsettled during their sessions. This is often due to separation anxiety, the unfamiliar environment, and the fact that parents are not in the water with them.To provide the most enjoyable, safe, and beneficial experience for both baby and parent, we therefore recommend introducing your baby to hydrotherapy before they reach 10 months of age.Babies who have already attended hydrotherapy sessions before 10 months of age are welcome to continue floating with us up to 18 months of age, provided they remain comfortable and enjoy the experience. If you would still like to book a first-time session for a baby older than 10 months, we are happy to accommodate you where possible.
- 03Hydrotherapy and Infant Massage are beautiful bonding experiences and a gentle way for your little one to explore the world around them. To make the most of it, ensure your sweet baby is: - Well rested — sessions are best enjoyed after a peaceful nap. - A full tummy also helps, so feed your little love beforehand. We have a cozy, private feeding room available just for you. - To keep the experience calm and nurturing, we recommend no extra stimulatory activities on the day before or after the session. Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled time in order to complete forms and feed your baby if needed.
- 04If it’s your baby’s first visit, we’ll start by walking you through what the session involves, explaining the many wonderful benefits of baby hydrotherapy. You’ll also be asked to complete a few pre-screening forms to ensure everything is safe and tailored to your little one’s needs. Then it’s time to head into our calming hydro-room! You’ll gently undress your baby and we’ll provide a complimentary swim nappy. With your help, our trained Baby Hydrotherapist will carefully fit the floatie, ensuring your baby is secure and comfortable. Now the fun begins! Your baby will have the chance to twist, splash, and kick freely in the warm water for about 10-25 minutes. Some babies are so relaxed, they even drift off to sleep! Just being in the water offers amazing benefits – and this is a beautiful opportunity to talk to your baby and share the joy of the experience. We encourage you to interact and bond as your little one enjoys their magical LumiFloat moment. Feel free to take a few photos or short video clips – just a gentle reminder to keep filming brief so the flow of the session isn’t interrupted, and please only capture your own baby. After about 10-25 minutes, or earlier if we notice your little one becoming overstimulated, we’ll gently take them out of the water. Then, with the guidance of our qualified IAIM (International Association of Infant Massage) Instructor, you’ll be shown massage strokes to use on your baby. Each session focuses on a different body part, giving you techniques to practice at home and extend the benefits of touch and connection even further.
- 05To make sure everything goes smoothly, here’s a quick checklist of what to bring: - Milk or a snack – Floating can be hungry work! We have a warm, private feeding room if you need a quiet space to nurse or bottle-feed. - Dry clothes – Just in case your little water baby needs a cozy change afterwards. - Pacifier – If your baby uses one, definitely bring it along for comfort and calm. We've got you covered with: - Normal + swim nappies - Wet wipes - Bum cream - Soft towels But you're more than welcome to bring your own if you prefer. We’re all about keeping your experience smooth, relaxed, and heartwarming. If you forget anything, don’t worry — we’re here to help!
- 06Each session is completely baby-led, meaning your little one sets the pace. The length of time in the water depends on how much stimulation your baby is comfortable with on that particular day. If the float session is a bit shorter, we simply spend more time on the relaxing massage – and vice versa. Most sessions last around 45 minutes to an hour. With regular visits, babies often build up their tolerance and spend longer enjoying the water – which means even more benefits over time! Consistency really helps them get the most out of their LumiFloat experience.
- 07This is such a special and unique experience – one that’s even more meaningful when shared with loved ones. We love welcoming friends and family to join in the magic! While we do encourage guests to come along, please note that we can accommodate up to two guests per session to keep the space calm and cosy for your little one.
- 08For the best results, we recommend bringing your little one once a week to truly enjoy all the wonderful benefits of our sessions. To make things even easier, we offer special packages when you book multiple sessions in advance – perfect for creating a regular, nurturing routine for your baby. Please contact us for more information on these packages.
- 09After their session, your baby will likely be quite hungry! If you live a bit far, we recommend feeding your baby right after the session to help them feel calm, content, and ready for a lovely, long nap. Our Village also sells Tummies Full Of Love baby food, so you are more than welcome to purchase a Variety Pack and heat something up for your baby to enjoy. You might also notice a poop nappy afterward – totally normal! Many parents also tell us their babies enjoy deeper, more restful sleep the night after a flotation session. Just one of the many sweet benefits!
